Swaddle cheat sheet
Everything I wish someone had handed me on day one. Save this page or screenshot it for the 2 a.m. version of you. — Oge
1. Pick by weight, not age
- Newborn: 5–8 lb
- Small: 9–12 lb
- Medium: 13 lb and up
Between sizes? Email contact@nolele.com with your baby's weight and I'll help you pick.
2. How snug is snug enough
- Snug at the arms and chest, with room for two fingers at the top.
- Loose at the hips, so the legs can bend up and out.
- Never wrap the legs straight down and tight.
3. Lay in. Zip. Click.
- Lay your baby on their back on the open swaddle.
- Zip from the bottom, in one pull.
- Fold each mitten over. The magnets click shut. Hands up, down, or folded back for feeds and awake time.
4. What goes underneath
- Usually just a diaper. Swaddle Easy is 1.0 TOG.
- Feel the back of the neck. Sweaty or hot means the room is too warm: take a layer off the room, not the baby.
- No hats in bed.
5. The safe sleep basics
- Baby on their back, every sleep.
- A firm, flat mattress with a fitted sheet.
- Nothing else in the crib: no pillows, bumpers, blankets or toys.
- Ask your pediatrician about anything specific to your baby.
6. The magnets
- Each magnet is sewn into its own sealed fabric pouch and never touches skin.
- Check the seams before each use, and stop using it if a pouch is ever torn.
- Keep it away from pacemakers and other implanted medical devices.
7. The one rule
Stop swaddling at 3 months or at the first signs of rolling, whichever comes first. Signs include rocking side to side or getting onto a shoulder.
