When parents hear “magnets,” the very next question is about safety. We asked it too. Here’s exactly how the closure is built, so you can see for yourself.
How it’s built
Sealed in, never on skin.
Each magnet sits in a small cup that’s sealed in PVC. That cup is sewn into a pouch in the middle of three fabric layers, so there’s always fabric between the magnet and your baby.
- Fully covered. Layers of fabric wrap around every magnet.
- Sewn in place. Each magnet is stitched into its own pouch.
- Never on the surface. The pouches sit between the fabric layers, out of sight.
- Off the skin. Your baby’s skin never touches a magnet.
Facing away from baby
The pull points outward.
Each magnet cup is magnetic only on the side facing away from your baby. So when two magnets meet, they pull toward each other, out and away from your baby’s body.
- Body magnets. The pull faces out from the swaddle.
- Mitten magnets. Same thing. The pull faces out.
- When they connect. The click happens away from your baby.

What about magnetic exposure?
Our magnets are static. They aren’t powered or electronic. They’re small, sealed in a cup, covered by fabric, and magnetic only on the side facing away from your baby.
Could my baby get to a magnet?
The magnets are built so your baby can’t reach them. Each one is sealed in a PVC cup and sewn into a pouch in the middle of three fabric layers.
Check the seams and pouches before each use. If anything is torn, or you can feel a magnet outside its pouch, stop using the swaddle and contact us.
Can my baby pull the mittens open?
The magnets hold the mittens closed through normal wiggles, and you open them with a simple pull. If a mitten does come open, just fold it back over and click.
Do the magnets lose strength over time?
They’re static magnets made to hold their strength for years. Close them before washing and follow the care label, and they’ll keep working wash after wash.
Are the magnets safe if my baby uses medical equipment?
Keep it away from pacemakers and other implanted medical devices. If your baby uses medical equipment, check with your pediatrician first.
Can I check the magnets myself?
Yes. You can feel each magnet through the fabric to make sure it’s in its pouch. The pouches are sewn shut on purpose, so please don’t open them. If something doesn’t feel right, stop using the swaddle and contact us.
Will the magnets damage my washing machine?
The magnets stay sealed inside the fabric, so they never touch your machine. Close the magnets before washing so they don’t catch on other clothes. A delicates bag helps protect the fabric too.
